Natural History Gallery Careful space planning and multi-layered storytelling turn a balcony walkway at Saffron Walden into a gallery on the natural history of Essex. The area is now home to a life size reconstruction of a hedgerow, woodland and pond habitat and a Victorian naturalist’s study. Between these, a panel-based display, complete with ‘hands-on’ interactives, tells the story of local woodland management and wild life. And, the space is still a safe and comfortable balcony walkway. Photography ©Andreas Schmidt |
